Glimpsed

Tia Johnson

Tia Johnson believes in fashion. "I believe it says a lot about your personality and who you are," she says. "And at the same time, I guess how you're dressed on any given day can explain the kind of mood you're in." When we "glimpsed" the 28-year-old Towson resident in Fells Point's Meli Patisserie & Bistro, she was wearing a fabulous mini-dress and boots. "That night, I was in a very outgoing, fashionable, ready-for-the-world mood," says Johnson, a conflict specialist with the law firm of Ober|Kaler.

Glimpsed

Nick Scott

Nick Scott believes in the adage "less is more." The 24-year-old Hampden resident keeps his style minimalist. He keeps it simple at work as an educational aide at the Forbush School at Sheppard Pratt, generally wearing T-shirts and jeans at work. For going out, he has a handful of dress shirts that he likes to combine with either a vintage tie or vest, black jeans and a fedora. So, how does Scott describe his look? "I take a little bit from the 1920s and the 1950s and modern British punk. I go all over the place." When we "glimpsed" him at Ottobar, we thought he was one hip cat.

Glimpsed

Jayne Love

On a spring day outside Clyde's of Columbia, Jayne Love looks ready for summer as she waits to meet a friend for lunch. It's hard to believe this fashionable Pikesville psychologist is a grandmother of 10. "My style is kind of eclectic, slightly sophisticated and a little offbeat. I'm not afraid to be different. I like [to look] stylish, but not silly. Because I'm 65." Not that Love is going to let her chronological age get in the way of having fun with fashion. But, she knows her limits. "I wouldn't buy anything that I look silly in. I try to buy something that's age-appropriate but also youthful." We think she's hit it right on the mark.

Glimpsed

Taejon Romanik

Pay attention when you see Taejon Romanik. He's wearing much more than just an outfit. The 25-year-old Highlandtown musician/songwriter describes his style as "sentimental, individual." He loves wearing things that mean something to him. When we "glimpsed" him before the Center Stage fashion show, he was wearing his late father's vest and a dream catcher that's been a lucky charm for him.

Glimpsed

Jordan Milton

If Jordan Milton looks like a model, that's because she is. The 19-year-old Morgan State University sophomore occasionally models in the Baltimore area, as well as around her hometown of New Castle, Del. "Fashion is very important to me because I feel as though I have to look the part. Where I go, I like to have that attention. It's good to have people say, 'Oh, you look like a model.' " This broadcast journalism major certainly got our attention when we "glimpsed" her in between classes at Morgan's Student Center.

Glimpsed

Elizabeth Zepp

It's not hard to guess that one of Elizabeth Zepp's fashion icons is the '60s supermodel Twiggy. "I love showing long, thin legs with a heel and a short dress, but not tight. I like fake eyelashes," says the 34-year-old human resources director for Agora Publishing.

Glimpsed

Elena Russo

Elena Russo certainly puts a good face on law enforcement. The "over 30"-year-old Federal Hill resident works as the spokeswoman for Maryland State Police, and as producer/host of Red Carpet segments for Comcast. Before that, Russo worked for years in Italy and other European countries, and New York as a fashion model. So, it's easy to see where she gets her "classic with an artistic edge" style. "I try to be visually inspiring. I try to be put together. I try to make sense in what I wear, in an artistic sense." She certainly made sense to us, when we "glimpsed" her at Sullivan's Steakhouse popular Thursday night happy hour.

Glimpsed: Terry Plater

In the Maryland Art Place gallery, filled with folks for the "Out of Order" auction, artist Terry Plater was a standout in a personal style he calls "a mixture of '50s Harlem renaissance old school mixed with a modern-day skateboarder."

Glimpsed

Hailey Cohen

Towson University junior Hailey Cohen may have found a good fit majoring in advertising and public relations. She obviously knows how to promote her "preppy, sophisticated and a little bit of funky" style. When we "glimpsed" the 21-year-old Easton resident in TU's Student Union, she was demonstrating how she frames one or two eye-catching pieces with some of her wardrobe staples.

Glimpsed

Ashley Woolsey

Would you believe this fashionista calls herself "a country bumpkin [originally] from Louisiana." We had quite the opposite reaction when we "glimpsed" Ashley Woolsey celebrating her 21st birthday by taking a quick shopping trip to White Marsh Mall. That, in itself, was quite a treat, because the Rosedale stay-at-home mom finds herself on a rather tight schedule, with a 7-month-old son. "Everything I do, he's the main focus. ... He's my No. 1."

Glimpsed

Allie Bulmer

Not all the sights at Cirque du Soleil's "Kooza" were onstage. Just check out 20-year-old Allie Bulmer, who was in the opening-night audience. The Montgomery College student and waitress loves watching current trends and adapting them to her "sophisticated, sexy and a little bohemian" style. But, this Damascus resident is no fashion fascist. "Everyone has their own style. The fashion police may say don't do that, but let people do [what they want]. If it's last season and you like it, that's fine. It's whatever works for you."

  • The Green Zone

    The Green Zone

3 Waffles (Out of 4) - Don't worry. Despite having the word "Green" in the title, Matt Damon is not some eco-warrior trying to destroy an evil polluter, save the dolphins or attempting to take down Toyota (they seem to be doing that all on their own). It's a war movie, so stuff is going to blow... more

    Remember Me

2 ½ Waffles (Out of 4) - The ending is one you will either love or hate, so put me in the hate category. I hate the ending. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
